Switch 2 MTEL
How does number porting work?
Switch to MTEL CH without the paperwork from your old provider! Our free and straightforward number porting makes it possible.
MOBILE SUBSCRIPTION
1. Request number porting
If you want to port a number from a mobile subscription, we need:
• the name of the contract holder
• the earliest date on which you can leave your current provider without additional costs
• the desired date for number transfer (a transfer before the contract ends may incur fees)
a) Scan the QR code to send a free SMS. This will provide you with the required information.

b) If the QR code does not work, you can send a free SMS with the text INFO to number 503. You will receive the name of the current contract holder, the earliest possible transfer date without additional costs, and any fees in case of porting before the contract ends. Please enter this information here.
2. Grant authorization and cancel your old contract
When ordering your MTEL subscription, you or the contract holder can grant authorization. This allows MTEL to cancel your old mobile contract and port your mobile number.
Porting date
Porting can take place at the earliest 14 working days after your request and is not carried out on weekends or public holidays.
3. Porting
Porting will be carried out on the confirmed date.
From that point on, your old SIM card will be invalid and should be replaced with your new MTEL SIM card.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to cancel my current contract?
No, we will take care of this after receiving your authorization. Please do not take any action, as this could delay the porting.
- Can I change the desired porting date afterwards?
Unfortunately, changes are not possible.
- Can I use my MTEL SIM card immediately after receiving it?
Yes, the new MTEL SIM card can be used immediately with a temporary number.
- Will fees apply if I request porting before the contract ends?
If your desired porting date is before the end of the notice period or minimum contract duration, fees will apply. You can find out the amount by sending a free SMS with the text INFO to 533 from your current provider.
PREPAID
1. Request number porting
If you use a prepaid service with another provider and want to transfer your number to MTEL, we need:
• the name of the contract holder
• the desired transfer date
a) To start the porting process, scan the QR code to send a free SMS.

b) If the QR code does not work, send a free SMS with the text YES to number 499. This informs your current provider that you want to terminate your prepaid service and transfer your number to MTEL. Without this SMS, porting cannot start.
Please note that your mobile number remains active with your current provider until the porting date.
2. Grant authorization
After completing your MTEL registration, you or the contract holder can grant authorization for porting.
Porting date
Porting can take place at the earliest 7 working days after your request.
3. Porting
Porting will be carried out on the confirmed date. Your old SIM card will then become invalid.
Frequently asked questions about porting
